NOW TV were looking to launch a new kids channel to sit on their digital platform. This would span across TV, web & mobile so the finished piece had to be super flexible, super intuitive (for kids as young as 4) and super playful.
As NOW TV’s UI designer, I created the layout and surrounding elements across all platforms. Alongside this - and with a keen eye for illustration and visual design - I also designed and created the alien characters and setting.
Some of the main challenges sat within the TV interface - as users typically only have a remote control to get around the screens (up, down, left and right) so simplicity is key; making sure all of the content is easy to access and browse through. Similarly, web and mobile have their own set of complexities and it was imperative to make the experience consistent across all platforms.
Another challenge was to make the interface feel like an immersive playground - scattered with hidden treats, animation and fun characters. This had to sit seamlessly alongside the video content without being overpowering or distracting. I used the assets to create the TV, web and mobile interface to house a variation of content.
The Watchr app is a new functionality from NOW TV allowing users to browse through a library of content and add to their watchlist. This idea borrows the fun and playful swiping action from the ‘Tinder’ app allowing the user to quickly add or dismiss content.
